A strong, comprehensive federal plan is needed for wildfire prevention that benefits Americans in all communities as wildfires grow in intensity and frequency across the nation, according to Partners in Wildfire Prevention.
“We hope to see the Interior Department and the U.S. Forest Service increase coordination and collaboration between federal, state, and local partners to meet hiring targets and fill important positions — including federal wildland firefighters,” said Partners in Wildfire Prevention Communications Director Chet Wade in a Sept. 8 statement.
The group made its request as the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service near the 90-day deadline set by the June 12 Executive Order 14308 entitled “Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response.” ….
