Portland-Based Grid Forward Joins National Wildfire Coalition

With the energy industry facing evolving pressures to prevent wildfires, an industry association based in the Northwest is lending its voice to a growing national coalition.

Portland-based nonprofit Grid Forward has joined the Partners in Wildfire Prevention organization, along with Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the American Gas Association and more than a dozen other trade associations, labor unions, research groups, energy industry stakeholders and culturally affiliated advocacy organizations.

Formed on May 7, Partners in Wildfire Prevention is committed to pushing for best practices and policies nationwide, with a focus on four key areas: elevating wildfire safety and prevention strategies; promoting sensible investments in modeling, advanced technology and critical infrastructure; ensuring fair access to compensation; and establishing a balanced and effective liability framework.

By nature of the company’s expertise in grid modernization efforts, Grid Forward’s work within that scope will focus predominantly on scaling grid-related solutions and policy measures, Grid Forward CEO and Executive Director Bryce Yonker told Clearing Up. ….
