WASHINGTON, D.C., October 7, 2025 — Partners in Wildfire Prevention Communications Director Chet Wade issued the following statement during National Fire Prevention Week:

“With more than 50,000 wildfires recorded this year, comprehensive action is needed to confront the growing wildfire crisis. American communities in every corner of the country are continuing to face dangerous wildfires, even after the peak of traditional wildfire season.

“Fire Prevention Week reminds us that prevention – and preparedness – are essential to a national wildfire strategy. Equipping communities in all states with the tools they need to stop fires before they even start is critical as our country faces more dangerous and intense wildfires.”

Since 1925, the United States has recognized National Fire Prevention Week each October. The week underscores the importance of a prevention-first approach and the role all Americans play in keeping our country safe from the dangers of fires. As wildfires become increasingly more common for all states, comprehensive federal action to prevent wildfires is needed now more than ever.
