WASHINGTON, D.C., September 16, 2025 — Partners in Wildfire Prevention Communications Director Chet Wade issued the following statement regarding the creation of the U.S. Wildland Fire Service by the Departments of Interior and Agriculture, as part of the implementation of Executive Order 14308, Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response:
“As a coalition, we are encouraged to see the Trump administration continue to make wildfire prevention a high-priority issue. The ongoing wildfire crisis requires a comprehensive, national solution. We support efforts to increase coordination, collaboration, and efficiency, so long as sufficient resources are provided. We are glad the Department of Interior will seek input from all stakeholders, including states, tribes, local governments, and the private sector as part of this process.
“Partners in Wildfire Prevention will closely review the full Secretary’s Order. The coalition continues to support continued bipartisan action from Congress to help address the wildfire crisis, such as passing the Fix Our Forests Act.”
